On behalf of the PLAA board of directors, I am asking for help from our lake neighbors!
The July 4th boat parade is a staple in the Pike Lake community, and I personally highlight the day as one of my favorites of the year. Still, some residents do not wish to participate in the water balloon/squirt gun fights, but often end up caught in the crossfire.
First off let me be clear: the Board is not here to regulate the actions of our members, however, we do need to consider all perspectives.
This year, we are going to try a flag system which will provide an easy visual cue on the intentions of another boat.
White flag = I am here to participate in the parade but do not wish to be “fired” on, and will not do so towards others
Pirate flag = bring it on
At our last board meeting, we voted to approve the purchase of 12”x18” flags which you can get FOR FREE 3 ways:
- At the July 4th breakfast (from 8-10AM at the Pike Lake Golf & Beach Club event center)
- Via jet ski immediately before the parade for those unable to make the breakfast
- You may message me to coordinate flag pick up at my house.
These flags will be FREE of charge, 1 per boat please as we have limited quantities.
Note: this is not an officially sponsored/sanctioned event of the PLAA, we are merely facilitating flag distribution on behalf of our members.
