We invite all of our neighbors to the Pike Lake Area Association (PLAA) annual business meeting Thursday, June 11 at the Grand Lake Township Hall, 7:00pm.
The agenda will be to elect members to our Board of Directors and to discuss a number of topics that should be of great interest to everyone who enjoys the lake.
These include planning for our 4th of July breakfast and the boat parade, the Music on the Lake schedule for the summer, and updates on the environmental quality of the lake.
This is an open public meeting; You do not have to be a member of the PLAA to attend, so please come and add your voice to our discussions.

On behalf of the PLAA board of directors, I am asking for help from our lake neighbors!
The July 4th boat parade is a staple in the Pike Lake community, and I personally highlight the day as one of my favorites of the year. Still, some residents do not wish to participate in the water balloon/squirt gun fights, but often end up caught in the crossfire.
First off let me be clear: the Board is not here to regulate the actions of our members, however, we do need to consider all perspectives.
This year, we are going to try a flag system which will provide an easy visual cue on the intentions of another boat.
White flag = I am here to participate in the parade but do not wish to be “fired” on, and will not do so towards others
Pirate flag = bring it on
At our last board meeting, we voted to approve the purchase of 12”x18” flags which you can get FOR FREE 3 ways:
- At the July 4th breakfast (from 8-10AM at the Pike Lake Golf & Beach Club event center)
- Via jet ski immediately before the parade for those unable to make the breakfast
- You may message me to coordinate flag pick up at my house.
These flags will be FREE of charge, 1 per boat please as we have limited quantities.
Note: this is not an officially sponsored/sanctioned event of the PLAA, we are merely facilitating flag distribution on behalf of our members.
David Humes, Secretary
All members of the Pike Lake community are invited to join the PLAA at the Pike Lake Golf and Beach Club event center on Friday, July 4th for a FREE breakfast from 8-10AM (food serving closes at 9:30).
Every year, hundreds of residents of the Pike Lake neighborhood get together to celebrate our nation’s Independence, catch up with old friends, and meet new ones!

The attorney the Pike Lake Assoc. contracted has told us that AAA is well within their legal rights to sell the golf course, recreation area. The next meeting where this will be discussed is at the Canosia Town Bd. meeting on Wed. the 5th. This is an open meeting and representatives from the Pike Lake Assoc. will be there. It is our understanding the town board also has the goal of maintaining the operation of the facility.
The question is how to maintain this community asset. If you have ideas or suggestions please let a PLA board member know. The moreconcerned community members involved in this discussion the more likely we are able to influence the directions taken.
